Randy Wisener

Randolph “Randy” N. Wisener (of Counsel) 

Randy, a native Texan, is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Eleventh Circuits. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association and the Garland Bar Association.

Randy attended the Garland, Texas public schools and graduated from Garland High School. He received his Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from North Texas State University and his Master of Arts, with honors, from Roosevelt University in Chicago. He attended law school at St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, from which received his J.D. with distinction. He graduated 4th in his law school graduating class of over two hundred. While at St. Mary’s, Randy served as Executive Editor of the St. Mary’s Law Journal. At St. Mary’s he received a number of honors and awards, including being placed on the Dean’s List each of his six semesters in law school, receiving the Fred Seamaan Memorial Scholarship, receiving the “Best Brief” award in appellate advocacy, and membership in the John Harlan Society. 

Randy has a general civil practice that focuses on business and commercial matters and transactions. He represents institutional and individual clients from both the private and public sectors, providing a full range of legal services to his clients. Randy and his firm successfully advise clients on the legal aspects of a variety of transactional, business, and personal matters and serve as “outside general counsel” to a wide range of diverse businesses. Randy has enjoyed providing commercial lending advice and assistance, as well as a broad range of other legal services, to financial institutions. He also routinely assists business clients with their business planning, general corporate, and transactional needs. Randy’s practice has also involved providing legal advice and general legal services to state insurance regulators on a national basis. He has represented clients in general commercial and complex litigation in both state and federal courts, including director and officer litigation, reinsurance matters, employment law, business tort litigation, education law, health claims defense, and general business and contract litigation. Randy had substantial responsibility in the rehabilitation of Fidelity Barkers Life Insurance Company and related litigation. He served as Counsel to the Deputy Receiver in the receivership of Home Owners Warranty Corporation. 

Among other community activities, Randy is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Garland Chamber of Commerce and a past President of the Garland Bar Association. Randy has presented papers, served on panels and made presentations regarding various aspects of insurance company insolvencies and related legal topics. 

Randy’s wife, Dr. Barbara Wisener, is an educator in the Highland Park Independent School District. She earned her Ed. D. from Texas A & M University — Commerce. She is a former school principal who returned to the classroom and teaches French and English as a Second Language (ESL). Randy and Barbara have three children: Atticus, a school administrator; Miranda, a homemaker and lawyer; and Dustin, who works in sales in the golf industry. Randy and Barbara enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time together and with their family, especially their grandchildren. Randy is an avid golfer and particularly enjoys playing golf with his two sons and his grandsons. Randy’s brother Bill is the owner and operator of the well-known Bill’s Records store in Dallas.
